Exterior  SUPER RHINO

The only real differences on the outside of the GT is the insert in the boot mould and the Superhino decal on the stripe, instead of the Superoo which the OZ GT has. Falcon GT in OZ, Fairmont GT in SA. You can purchase this insert  and decals for around $50 if you wish to.

Interior,

Seats and door trims were Futura OZ spec and the glovebox had no padding but does have the GT badge. Other than that the gauges are in metric instead of imperial.

Note this car does have OZ spec door trims as they go all the way to the top of the doors.

They are a 54H body as per OZ cars  (GT Falcon)

They are a 351 Clev D block 4V, with 4MA crank  (GT Falcon)

They do have a Top loader or an FMX This is a factory 4 speed GT car. (GT Falcon)

They do have a 9" diff (GT Falcon)

All running gear is the same as OZ spec, its only the cosmetic differences that set them apart from the OZ GT. (GT Falcon)

GT is located at Muscle Car Stables in Northmead Sydney for inspection by appoinment , it had been highly noted on facebook and it has received some very positive comments, please feel free to look it up on Muscle Car Stables Facebook page.

This XY GT has approx. 1248 kms since restoration was completed,

The GT was a nut and bolt resto in South Africa and parts were sourced from GT Performance in Melbourne.

It’s a 1972 Diamond Blue, MS 33 XY GT. and is an ALL matching numbers car with all tags and numbers match.

The car is as follows:

1972 XY Fairmont GT

The car was restored by the previous owner between 2014-2016 and was purchased in Melbourne by the current owner.

All parts for the resto were provided by GT Performance in Melbourne and sent to South Africa for the restoration. (Video of Resto linked)

Engine.

  • 351 Cleveland D block with 4V heads,

  • Reconditioned, blueprinted & balanced,

  • Holley 650 Carburettor fitted,

  • Stainless Steel 2.5 inch exhaust,

  • Orig Shaker working condition,

  • Orig 4V outlet and inlet manifold,

  • Power steering reconditioned and works well,

  • Wiper motor, washer bottle, brake booster, master cylinder all replaced,

  • Correct Hi and Lo horns,

  • Decals in engine bay as per OZ and South Africa,

  • New radiator and all heater and radiator hoses replaced,

  • Correct Tag on radiator support,

  • Correct Tag under drivers seat

  • All electrical checked, fixed and replaced,

  • Clutch master cylinder new,

  • Clutch pressure plate and flywheel new,

  • 4 Speed Top Loader with new shift kit, linkages and reconditioned, changes smoothly,

  • Electronic distributor with new leads and plugs,

  • Fully serviced with all filters replaced and oils renewed,

  • Complete detail of underbody.

Underneath

  • All Suspension in front end replaced,

  • Ball joints, camber arms, tie rods, shocks and springs all done,

  • Bushes also replace throughout front end,

  • New rotors, callipers replaced,  pads, shoes and drums as well as sway bar rubbers,

  • New hand brake cable,

  • GT springs reset to correct level,

  • Period correct shocks,

  • New tail shaft,

  • New petrol tank and sender,

  • Diff is manual ratio and has been reconditioned, also is a locker diff,

  • New brake and fuel lines.

Exterior.

  • Bumper bars new,

  • Driving lights, indicators, grille, over riders, tail lights, lenses, boot garnish new or replaced,

  • Body re painted and appears to be rust free and reasonably straight,

  • All stainless polished or replaced,

  • All blackouts repainted and corrected,

  • Bonnet pins new,

  • Black stripe factory GT,

  • Correct trico wipers,

  • New 15inch Bathurst Globes with red wall tyres,

  • New sill moulds,

  • Passenger side mirror added.

Ford Australia confirmed the assembled South African GT in Port Elizabeth was an ”Exported Falcon GT”. 1970 – 1972 54H body as per XW/XY GT Falcon manufactured in Australia at the Ford Australia Geelong, 1970 to March 1971. March 1971 to July 1972 351 4v D block Cleveland. MS33 are the numbers given to the Exported Falcon GT, to be re badge Fairmont GT upon completion at Ford Port Elizabeth South Africa. The Australian built Falcon GT (JG) was also manufactured on the same assembly line at Broadmeadows. The Australian GT Falcon is
based on a Fairmont so you could say the SA Fairmont GT is truer to its name. Cars were put into Complete Knock Down Form & painted in red oxide paint for their ocean travel & final assembly in South Africa. Assembly included, all glass, Trim based on Australian Futura 54C, GT Mirrors, GT dash, steering wheel, console. Bucket seats, and a fully imported 4v 351 Cleveland crate motor, FMX automatic (XYGT) C4 XWGT or 4 speed top loader (XYGT) & 9” Diff.
