1974 FORD XB FAIRMONT GS 460 BIG BLOCK
This particular example is a 1974 Ford XB Fairmont GS that has been owned by it’s builder
for twenty-four years. He was persistent in locating a rust free example as a base to build his
460 big block vision. The bold yellow exterior is certainly an eye catcher, finished nicely with
‘GT460’ decals. A set of Street Pro 007 wheels look right at home on each corner of this XB.
The new black vinyl interior contrasts nicely against the yellow exterior, while complimenting
the black exterior highlights. A nice set of column mounted Autometer gauges and billet B&M
shifter set the tone for this tough streetcars persona.
Running a stout 460 big block ford V8, the tough C6 transmission with 3500 stall converter helps
deliver the power to the rear diff. This particular setup features a 9” Detroit locker with 4:11
gearset. The complete brake system and shocks are new and perform as you would expect.
Finally, Pacemaker extractors exit via a 3” system that truly enhances the big block rumble.
As a capable cruiser with power and torque to match, this Big Block XB is perfect for summer
cruising. The bold styling is sure to turn a few heads and command the attention it deserves.
