Description

I've reluctantly decided to sell my Deep Aqua 74 XBGT.  I purchased this car a few years ago with the intention of performing a full restoration.  My plans have since changed as I've been advised by people in the car industry to keep it original, as it is!

The history on this car is known and very interesting.  A true credit to its original family owners.  It comes with a Verification Letter from Ford Australia where the list of options ticked is quite substantial.  This car was not ordered by a Ford Executive or Manager (not a 3999 car) but by a family walking into their local Ford Dealership who sat down with the dealer and started ticking boxes on an order sheet.  This is a matching numbers 1 Of 1 XBGT.

The GT is factory 351 (T) 4 speed (L) which came with the single rail gearbox.  The gearbox was later replaced with a top loader by the original owners.  The engine has also been freshened up with a rebuild which has a nice sounding lumpy cam.  The original Motorcraft carby has been overhauled as has the points distributor.

All Options are intact including the date matching Option 52 road wheels.

The body presents well.  It has superficial bumps, scratches and bruises which adds to its patina appearance and character. The original family owner which I managed to contact can pretty much account for all of its body imperfections. The car does have a couple of rust spots which are minor, superficial not structural.  The colour and vinyl roof is bold and out there and its very 70's!

I was told by the original owner that the car sat in a garage for many years and was unused.  This would explain it's low, original kilometres of use (59,980 kms).  It was recommisioned in 2019 and I purchased the car in 2021.

I drove the car to the 19th Falcon GT Nationals at Bathurst last year where it picked up the Silver Award in the Original/Unrestored category without even trying.

I had a lot of fun driving the car to Bathurst and back, it was a great experience and the car never missed a beat. Trips to cars and coffee events are also interesting as its a bit of a talking piece.

The GT comes with a folder filled with paperwork, receipts, original owners handbooks, brochures and a workshop manual.  It also comes with the original single rail gearbox, old parts which have now been replaced.  Other parts include spares and new retro replacement parts to go with the car.

The reason for the sale is storage, other projects and family committments.

It is truely rare to see such an original car these days.

If you are genuinely interested in my GT, have the finances and approval from your significant other then by all means contact me.

Thanks for looking at my ad.
