One registered owner and genuine low miles, this XR GT is also one of the very few fitted with a 302 from factory.

There are believed to be approximately 20 to 30 examples to have rolled off the line with the 302 late in the production run of the XR GT due to 289 stocks running low. This all original XR GT was sold brand new from Maughan Thiem Motor Company PTY. LTD. in Adelaide and continued to be serviced by them its whole life. Ordered from the dealership with a factory black vinyl roof, factory bonnet and guard spears, Fairmont wheel arch trims and sill moulds. This XR GT also has factory mudflaps and original hubcaps. Adding to the original features of this car it still retains its original boot mat, genuine shock absorbers and many of its original tie rods, suspension rubbers etc.

With the exception of a cosmetic external respray 25 years ago the body is all original and shows no signs of any structural accidents as well as having no rust repairs. The engine, gear box and differential is all factory original and never been removed from the vehicle. The driveline also retains many of the original factory paint daubs and markings. The interior of the GT is all original and in excellent condition. The original carpet still remains, there are no cracks in the original crash pad and the original dash chrome and steering wheel is like the day it left the factory. The odometer reading shows the original mileage as a genuine and low 135,000 miles. The engine bay displays original radiator hoses and clamps, battery leads, carby and tag, coil and tag. New plug leads have been fitted but they are date correct autolite leads. In addition to all of the above this XR GT also comes with all the original log books and dealer paraphernalia that came with the car at time of delivery 52 years ago.

All being said this XR GT is a rare and spectacular vehicle proving to be most definitely suited to a dedicated collector.
